NADI Will Improve Standard of Living of Local Community

The Ministry of Communications through the Kampung Angkat Madani programme is upgrading facilities at Kampung Orang Asli Kelinsing, Sepang at a cost of around RM4.3 million.

Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, said that most of the costs were covered by his ministry while the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is providing the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in an effort to provide added value to the well-being of the people.

He said that in an initial survey, the area was found to lack a suitable hall to enable residents to carry out cultural and traditional tourism programmes as well as community activities.

“This location was chosen around July and August last year. After visiting the area, we saw that there were several infrastructure facilities that we needed to improve,” he said on Saturday, after the inauguration of the Kampung Angkat Madani by the Ministry of Communications in the village.

Of the total cost utilized for Kampung Orang Asli Kelinsing, NADI was completed specifically for the village at a cost of around RM1.8 million.

Meanwhile, among the scope of the project planning are the reconstruction of the cultural hall, canteen, public toilets; the construction of new business premises and upgrading infrastructure as well as the implementation of a cheerful programme.

“I hope that with the infrastructure that has been completed, not only Kampung Orang Asli Kelinsing will benefit, but about 15 Orang Asli villages in the Sepang district will also benefit.

“We can also see kiosks for sales and I hope that with NADI Kelinsing, the community can benefit from learning about grants and government assistance, as well as improving skills for entrepreneurship, especially in e-commerce platforms.

“We found many local products that can be featured other than handicrafts that have the potential to be promoted and sold. One of the products, ubi kakot which I have never seen but is very tasty to eat.

“I hope that with the facilities available in Kampung Angkat Madani, it brings potential to the Orang Asli community here,” he said.
